Civil Project Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Civil Project Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will manage and oversee a diverse range of engineering projects, focusing on civil and environmental aspects for industrial, commercial, and municipal clients. From initiating project plans to handling technical and administrative duties, you will lead projects to successful completion while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, safety codes, and client requirements. Salary: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly document and maintain files for all assigned projects and field activities.
  • Communicate work progress and any scope modifications to project staff efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local laws, as well as safety codes.
  • Handle budget preparation, invoicing, and management of accounts receivable.
  • Mentor and provide training to Staff Engineers and Technicians.
  • Achieve a target utilization goal of 80% or greater.
  • Function as the project manager for selected projects, overseeing all project aspects.
  • Adhere to and review project budgets, and prepare and analyze monthly invoices.
  • Assist in the use of PC-based software packages like CAD for analysis and planning.
  • Evaluate field results and write technical reports with recommendations for senior review.
  • Provide technical consultations to project teams and delegate work assignments effectively.
  • Conduct site visits and prepare comprehensive cost proposals for new and ongoing projects.
  • Develop familiarity with current standards, regulations, and requirements pertinent to internal and client projects.
  • Assist in the development of new policies and procedures relating to project management and reporting.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in civil or environmental engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise engineering projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with CAD and other relevant engineering software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and interact with clients.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related area.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Prior experience in consulting and client management.
  • Advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations and codes.
  • Experience in mentoring and leadership within an engineering context.
