They are currently seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney who provides comprehensive legal representation in plaintiff-side civil matters, managing cases from pre-litigation through trial. This role focuses on delivering strategic, client-centered advocacy while ensuring efficient, organized, and timely case progression in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management & Litigation Strategy
- Manage a full caseload of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, habitability, and related tort claims
- Oversee cases from initial intake through resolution, including pre-litigation evaluation and strategy development
- Develop and implement litigation strategies aligned with client goals and case facts
- Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding case status, expectations, and outcomes
- Handle all phases of litigation, including discovery, law and motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial
- Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial proceedings
- Prepare for and participate in trial as first- or second-chair, as applicable
- Coordinate and collaborate on trial preparation, including witness and evidence development
Legal Drafting & Research
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and settlement agreements with a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
- Analyze legal issues and provide strategic recommendations based on applicable law
Negotiation & Case Resolution
- Negotiate settlements and advocate for favorable client outcomes
- Evaluate claims, damages, and liability to guide settlement strategy
- Advise clients on risks, options, and legal strategies throughout the case lifecycle Compliance & Collaboration
- Ensure compliance with the California Code of Civil Procedure, Evidence Code, and applicable court rules
- Stay current on legal developments relevant to practice areas
- Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to deliver high quality legal services
Qualifications & Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active California Bar license required
- Minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience
- Plaintiff-side experience in personal injury and/or habitability matters preferred
- Demonstrated experience in trial preparation; first- or second-chair trial experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and evidentiary rules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience with Clio is a plus
