Civil Litigation Attorney – Personal Injury & Pre-Litigation

This prominent law firm with National Attorneys, based in Southern California, focuses on litigation with a commitment to providing exceptional legal representation. They have a proven track record of successfully handling complex federal cases to personal injury, civil, criminal and representing celebrity music and entertainment clients. They are currently seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney who provides comprehensive legal representation in plaintiff-side civil matters, managing cases from pre-litigation through trial. This role focuses on delivering strategic, client-centered advocacy while ensuring efficient, organized, and timely case progression in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Litigation Strategy
  • Manage a full caseload of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, habitability, and related tort claims
  • Oversee cases from initial intake through resolution, including pre-litigation evaluation and strategy development
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies aligned with client goals and case facts
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients regarding case status, expectations, and outcomes
Litigation & Trial Advocacy
  • Handle all phases of litigation, including discovery, law and motion practice, depositions, mediation, and trial
  • Represent clients in court appearances, hearings, depositions, mediations, and trial proceedings
  • Prepare for and participate in trial as first- or second-chair, as applicable
  • Coordinate and collaborate on trial preparation, including witness and evidence development

Legal Drafting & Research
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and settlement agreements with a high level of accuracy and professionalism
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
  • Analyze legal issues and provide strategic recommendations based on applicable law

Negotiation & Case Resolution
  • Negotiate settlements and advocate for favorable client outcomes
  • Evaluate claims, damages, and liability to guide settlement strategy
  • Advise clients on risks, options, and legal strategies throughout the case lifecycle Compliance & Collaboration
  • Ensure compliance with the California Code of Civil Procedure, Evidence Code, and applicable court rules
  • Stay current on legal developments relevant to practice areas
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to deliver high quality legal services

Qualifications & Skills
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar license required
  • Minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience
  • Plaintiff-side experience in personal injury and/or habitability matters preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in trial preparation; first- or second-chair trial experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and evidentiary rules
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting abilities
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience with Clio is a plus
