Duties Include:

• Coordinates total estimating effort relevant to project assigned
• Rail/Transit design and construction a plus
• Reviews construction documents including proposal specifications and drawings
• Attends pre-bid meetings to fully understand scope of work to bid
• Inputs take-off quantities into estimating software
• Search and analyze most cost effective means and methods of construction
• Obtains pricing for materials
• Prepares bids by coordinating with and selecting vendors and subcontractors to determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid
• Prepares cost analysis in computer by itemizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items
• Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, makes an estimate and qualifications
• Follow awarded contracts as assigned; may include estimating extra work items, change orders or credits
• Informs the immediate supervisor of any observed inaccuracies or omissions in bid document
• Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
• Advises all necessary parties of major changes to scope of work
• Once project complete debriefing with estimating, engineering and production teams to discuss the outcome
• Maintain back up files and working documents for all estimated figures including current, accurate information and costs from suppliers and subcontractors
• Attends departmental meetings as required
• Photocopies documents and plans
