Position Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the owners of a premier logistics provider with a focus on dry van, flatbed, and temperature controlled markets in the United States and Canada. The organization partners with companies to provide truckload, less-than-truckload, and intermodal solutions.
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of a major non-asset freight brokerage business for the organization. Develops a plan for profitable growth, performs profit forecasting and budgeting. Work in coordination with other company business units, develop the strategic and tactical direction for the unit, establish management processes and metrics for performance and be accountable for financial and growth performance of the freight brokerage. Supervises process improvement internally and in the company’s arrangements with its customers, carriers and channel marketing partners. Directs negotiation with customers and carrier partners including yearly agreements, customer specific pricing and operations improvements. Completes necessary planning activities for both short term and long-term goals of the business including budgetary planning, analysis, and review. Challenge is to build world-class team, develop high-level service offering, motivating and leading staff while optimizing costs, increasing revenues and improving profitability.

Background Required:
  • Progressive responsibility managing and profitably growing an early stage (Start-Up) Non-Asset Freight Brokerage
  • Have had direct financial accountability for freight brokerage
  • Manage carrier acquisition, negotiating pricing, and carrier development strategy
  • P & L experience (Gross Margin, Revenue, OE, ROI, Daily Dashboard)
  • Experience in directing/coordinating Freight Brokerage sales activity.
  • People Management (hire/train/coach/mentor)
  • Driven technology and process improvement within operations profitably
  • Develop and execute business plan strategies
  • Multi Modal (LTL, Truckload, Intermodal)
  • Develop & manage KPI’s (i.e. on-time performance, margin, data integrity, lane balances)
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Residence: Buffalo, NY (relocation assistance available)
