Ray County Hospital & Healthcare (RCH), a well-established critical access hospital located in Richmond, MO, has an outstanding opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Morgan Hunter HealthSearch has been retained to assist with this key search.

RCH is a 25-bed critical access hospital and a comprehensive outpatient clinic offering a wide range of services, including oncology, surgical services and a swing bed program. They are also in the process of purchasing a rural health clinic. As part of their commitment to excellence and innovation, they have recently made a multi-million dollar investment in implementing EPIC as their EMR system, enhancing efficiency, patient safety, and care coordination. RCH is Joint Commission accredited, Medicare 5 star rated, Level III stroke certified, and a Chartis top performing rural hospital.

The CFO reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a key member of the executive team. The CFO will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial operations, ensuring financial health, and contributing to the hospital’s mission of delivering high-quality healthcare to our community. Current department responsibilities include Accounting, Facilities, EVS, and Radiology. In addition to the implementation of EPIC, Multiview and Paylocity also went live approximately one year ago.

Candidate qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with a master’s and/or CPA preferred. A minimum of 10 years of financial management experience is strongly preferred. Experience in a critical access hospital or rural healthcare setting is highly desirable. Must have an in-depth understanding of healthcare finance, including reimbursement systems, regulatory requirements, and cost control strategies. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities are a necessity, as is proficiency in financial software, healthcare finance systems, and Excel.

Richmond is conveniently located just 45 minutes from downtown Kansas City and considered part of the metropolitan statistical area. With a population of just over 6,000, it is the county seat of Ray County (population over 23,000). Local attractions include the Ray County History Museum and the Farris Arts District, which includes the historical Farris Theatre. The city has approximately 60 acres of parkland distributed across five public parks, with the largest featuring a public outdoor swimming pool and a community amphitheater. Richmond is home to a semi-private 18-hole golf course. The well-regarded course was designed in 1969 by Chet Mendenhall, who was a founding member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.
