Prairie View, a faith-based behavioral health organization based in Newton, Kansas, with additional outpatient locations in Wichita, McPherson and Hillsboro, has an immediate opportunity for a Chief Financial Officer. Morgan Hunter HealthSearch has been retained to conduct this important search.

Organization: Prairie View offers a number of evidence-based behavioral services, including psychiatric hospitalization, treatment for substance abuse, eating disorders, TMS therapy, psychological testing, sexual health and more. Prairie View covers an 80-acre campus in the natural plains of Kansas.

Founded in 1954, Prairie View saw huge growth, beginning in 1963, when Prairie View contracted with Harvey County to provide services as its Community Mental Health Center. McPherson County followed in 1965 and Marion County in 1967. Today, they are in five locations, with 370 staff and offer a complete range of behavioral and mental health services for all ages — children, teens, adults and older adults.

Opportunity: The Chief Financial Officer, reporting to the President/CEO and serving as a member of the senior management team, is responsible for providing leadership in managing the overall financial health of the organization, and to provide counsel to the President/CEO on fiscal affairs. In addition to accounting/finance department, the CFO has oversight of the purchasing, patient accounts, information services and facilities (which includes housekeeping) departments.

Key to being successful in this position is a strong desire to contribute as a leader - providing strategic direction and a hands-on approach to problem solving. Strengths needed include a solid understanding of the budgeting process and implementation, financial reporting, assessment skills, mentoring, collaboration, and an ability to lead confidently.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will have healthcare or human service experience. Behavioral health is preferred, but not required. Requires 5+ years senior management experience (i.e. CFO, Director of Accounting/Finance level), excellent communication skills, collaborative leadership style and a problem-solver. A Master’s degree and behavior health experience is preferred.
