Community HealthCare System (CHCS), located in Onaga, Kansas, has an outstanding opportunity for a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

CHCS is a first-class, nonprofit health care system with a longstanding tradition of providing compassionate, high-quality care to the rural communities of northeast Kansas. CHCS employees more than 450 associates at seven locations (including a district hospital) serving a large service area and has net patient revenues of greater than $33M.

In 2015, the CHCS hospital building was replaced by a $20 million state-of-the-art hospital with new surgical suites, in-house MRI, an expanded emergency department, private patient rooms, a new clinic, and a new birth center.

CHCS covers a four-county area. Family practice is the core of their care and is complemented by a full array of hospital outpatient services. CHCS employs more than 25 providers. It is an award-winning health care system and an economic contributor for a number of communities in northeastern Kansas.

The CFO reports to the Chief Executive Officer and is a member of the executive leadership team, with responsibility for directing the fiscal functions of the organization, including district financial planning and accounting practices with lending institutions and the Board of Directors. Also has financial responsibilities with the CHCS Foundation. Department oversight includes Accounting/Finance, Materials Management, Business Office, HIM, Registration, and Patient Access.

Candidate qualifications include at least ten years’ healthcare accounting and financial experience, with prior CFO responsibilities. Critical access experience is also required. Must possess excellent communication and presentation skills, be collaborative, and be able to work in the numbers when needed. A bachelor’s degree is required, while a Master’s and CPA are preferred.
