Executive Search Associates is seeking a seasoned and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations for hospitals in Maine and Illinois that are entering an exciting phase of growth through acquisition. These leadership roles are critical to the success of hospitals transitioning into a larger, fast-growing national health system known for operational excellence and strategic expansion.

Responsibilities

• Serve as CFO for a hospital in acquisition transition
• Lead all financial operations including planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance
• Manage revenue cycle initiatives and performance improvement strategies
• Navigate financial integration during acquisition with executive and system leaders
• Build and lead high-performing financial teams across departments
• Align financial operations with strategic goals of the broader health system
• Oversee regulatory compliance, audits, and risk management
• Support relocation or transition efforts in collaboration with leadership

Requirements

• Prior CFO experience in acute care hospitals with 180+ beds
• Demonstrated tenure in full-time roles (not interim or consulting)
• Proven success in hospital acquisitions, mergers, or restructuring
• Strong background in revenue cycle management and financial optimization
• Minimum of 5–7 years in senior hospital financial leadership
• Master’s degree or advanced financial credentials preferred
• Open to relocation to Maine or Illinois, or currently based in one of the states
