Sublette County Hospital District (SCHD) in Pinedale, WY, was formed in 2020 with the mission of building a new hospital and integrating it with existing clinics, EMS, and long term care services. The hospital is under construction and the district is seeking it's initial Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Morgan Hunter HealthSearch has been engaged to lead the search.

Sublette County is the only county in Wyoming currently without a hospital. The new $73M SCHD facility will feature 40,000 square feet for a new critical access hospital to include a 24/7 emergency room with a separate entrance, approximately 10 hospital rooms, potential surgical space, clinic space and an imaging, CT-scan, and X-ray area. Additionally, there will be 44,000 square feet for a new long-term care facility with 50 total beds, which includes a secured Memory Care Unit with 10 beds. Completion is anticipated in March of 2025 with a tentative opening of May, 2025.

SCHD currently operates two healthcare clinics, the Pinedale Medical Clinic and the Marbleton/ Big Piney Medical Clinic, which offer primary, urgent, and emergent care along with radiology and laboratory services. They also operate an EMS service with two locations, one in Pinedale and another in Marbleton / Big Piney. Eight providers staff the clinics full-time (three physicians and five APPs) and visiting specialties include OB/GYN, dermatology, orthopedics, pediatrics, gastroenterology, cardiology, ENT and behavioral health.

SCHD will incorporate Sublette Center into the new organization. Currently, Sublette Center offers 50 LTC beds, provides skilled 24-hour nursing care, personal hygiene, housekeeping services, three meals daily, and rehabilitative services. In addition, they have two apartment complexes that are designed for active independent persons of retirement age who can live alone and attend to all of their personal needs.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) reports to the elected five-member SCHD Board of Trustees and will be the initial CEO for the newly formed organization. The CEO is responsible for providing strategic, financial, and operational leadership and will closely coordinate and work with the Board of Trustees and senior leadership team. The CEO is responsible for implementing the vision of the Board of Trustees to fulfill the community’s healthcare needs through affordable patient care and excellent customer service. Carries out policies established by the Board of Trustees and advises on the formation of those policies.

SCHD is seeking an energetic, strategic, and visionary leader with proven experience operating in a collaborative and dynamic environment to guide SCHD through the complex challenge of building and opening a new critical access hospital, while also integrating existing clinics, EMS and the Sublette Center into one organization. The CEO will demonstrate excellent communication and relationship skills and can work with a diverse group of people, including the board, staff, providers, donors, community partners and patients. We seek individuals that will foster a culture of collaboration, be approachable, visible, thoughtful, ethical and possess the business acumen to maintain and enhance the organization’s financial viability.
