Patterson Health Center (PHC), a critical access hospital located in the plains of south-central Kansas (Harper County), has an outstanding opportunity for a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). PHC is the culmination of a project started in 2013. The effort was spurred on at the urging of Harper County native son Neal Patterson, co-founder of Kansas City-based healthcare software giant Cerner Corporation. Morgan Hunter HealthSearch has been retained to assist PHC with the recruitment for this key position.

Completed in 2019, PHC combined two critical access hospitals in Anthony and Harper, KS. The new centrally located 62,500 square foot critical access hospital features a 16-bed inpatient wing, a large emergency room with two trauma bays to support its Level IV Trauma Center, as well as a rural health clinic and specialty clinic (they also have two addition rural health clinics). In addition, PHC operates two wellness centers and a durable medical equipment store. PHC employs 171 full and part-time employees, including two physicians and approximately 10 mid-level providers.

PHC is seeking an energetic, strategic and visionary leader with proven experience operating in a collaborative and dynamic enviornment to guide PHC through the complex issues currently facing healthcare organizations. The CEO will demonstrate excellent communication and relationship skills and have the ability to work with a diverse group of people, including the board, staff, medical staff, donors, community partners and patients. We seek individuals that will foster a culture of collaboration, be approachable, thoughtful, ethical and possess the business acumen to maintain the organization’s financial viability. The CEO reports to the seven-member PHC Board of Directors.
