We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Chemical Plant Controls Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal as it involves developing, implementing, and maintaining sophisticated automation and control systems to optimize our chemical manufacturing operations. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage deeply with both electrical and control system design and implementation, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance at our state-of-the-art plant.
Salary: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize automation and control systems for the plant, including PLCs, DCS, pneumatic circuits, and associated networking.
- Ensure all control systems meet regulatory requirements, focusing on safety integrations like SIL/LOPA.
- Maintain and update critical instrumentation and electrical drawings including motor elementaries and instrument loop sheets.
- Provide essential support to the maintenance team in managing routine and emergency work orders effectively.
- Oversee the maintenance and archiving of PLC documentation and control drawings from equipment suppliers.
- Conduct training sessions and mentorship programs for technical staff, enhancing their skills in control system strategies and operations.
- Play a significant role in the expansion and maintenance of IT and OT infrastructure in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Electrical, Controls, and Instrumentation within a chemical manufacturing environment.
- Proven expertise with Allen Bradley and Rockwell Automation Controls.
- Familiarity with IT and OT network communications protocols.
- Understanding of threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques in ICS environments.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements specific to industrial control systems.
- Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requirements.
- Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship.

- Advanced degrees or certifications relevant to control systems engineering.
- Experience leading projects or teams in an industrial or chemical plant setting.
- Ability to innovate and improve existing processes and controls for better efficiency and safety.
