Responsibilities of the Certified Wound Care Nurse (RN)

  • Develop and recommend WOC plan of care for patients throughout their post-operative course
  • Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
  • Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers
  • Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care

Requirements for the Certified Wound Care Nurse (RN)

  • RN Active License State of Georgia
  • Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program
  • Current Wound, Ostomy and Continence Certification
  • Minimum five (5) years of total nursing experience
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent WOC nursing experience
  • Current BLS certification
  • Outpatient experience is a plus!
  • Self-directed, independent thinker who possesses a high level of autonomy and flexibility
