Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse

An established Occupational Health Clinic based in Syracuse, NY, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team. This vital role involves a variety of medical, administrative, and support duties to ensure the highest level of patient care and clinic efficiency. Candidates should be proactive, respectful, and ready to handle tasks ranging from patient care to administrative support. As a direct hire position within our clinic, you will have the opportunity to work closely with healthcare providers and play a significant role in the day-to-day operations of our healthcare facility.

Salary: $43,000 - $45,000 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare patients for medical evaluations, manage vital signs, update histories, review medications, and use the EPIC medical record system effectively.
  • Perform diagnostic tests including EKGs, Spirometry, Audiometry, Dynamometry, Phlebotomy, Urine Collection, Snellen Eye Examinations, and Hemoccult tests.
  • Organize and prepare patient charts, abstract charts and print test results for upcoming patient visits.
  • Execute pre-visit assessments and ensure the timely arrival of external medical records.
  • Maintain medical equipment, overseeing calibration, battery checks, and supply inventory management.
  • Facilitate front-desk duties: reception, patient check-in/out, and phone interactions.
  • Support medical and administrative staff to streamline clinic operations daily.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an approved Medical Assistant or LPN program, or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Experience in a medical office setting, particularly within an occupational health environment.
  • Proficiency in using medical record systems, preferably EPIC.
  • Capability to perform a range of diagnostic tests including Phlebotomy, EKG, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with phlebotomy and proficient in EPIC medical record system.
  • Strong patient communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
