Central Sterile Processing Technician- $26.85/hour
Scottsdale, AZ

Under general supervision of the Ancillary Practice Manager, Central Sterile Processing Technician primarily responsible for instrument/instrument trays/equipment decontamination, preparation and sterilization, tray and case cart assembly, documentation of all sterilization processes, and delivery of a wide variety of instrumentation and patient care equipment to the River People’s Health Center. This position ensures the highest quality standards are met in accordance with departmental procedures and established industry standards. This job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt.

This is a full-time, 40 hour/ week position. Shifts are 8 hours between 7:00AM - 6:00PM.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and collaborates the overall cleaning, decontamination, assembly and dispensing of instruments, equipment and supplies needed for the various departments.
  • Responsible for control of all parts of the sterilization process: decontamination; prep, pack, sterilize; documentation of sterilization; and sterile storage including remediation of equipment failures and hazards.
  • Utilizes chemical agents and automated decontamination machinery to clean and decontaminate instrumentation and medical equipment.
  • Provide integrity and sterility of products and services for the customers.
  • Work in conjunction with the department staff to provide timely sterile products.
  • Maintain consistency and continuous workflow between the departments and Central Sterile Processing while practicing excellent customer service.
  • Operate and maintain decontamination equipment
  • Assist with cleaning of rooms between cases and terminal cleaning
  • Maintains records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance, and supplies.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate records to remain compliant with applicable regulatory agencies, as well as reporting occurrences immediately to supervisors.
  • Maintain strong working/collaborative relationships with other departments to ensure flow and continuity of services.
  • Attend in-service presentations, including but not limited to infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Report defective equipment to supervisor or staff.
  • Controlling the inventory, reordering supplies, and checking expiration dates.


Qualifications

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required;

  • For enrolled Community members without a GED, must obtain a GED. Requires participation in the HR GED Program and successful completion of the Arizona state certified exam in order to continue employment with SRPMIC
  • Completion of or active enrollment in a sterile processing training program or certification as either CRCST or CSPDT required
  • One (1) year of Central Sterile Processing experience required.

Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that would allow the candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties of this position, will be considered.

Special Requirements
May be required to work outside normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
