Our Client, a well-established QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) company is recruiting for an experienced Central Kitchen Manager to be based at their Distribution Centre in Kya Sands Randburg, Johannesburg.

Job Purpose:

The Kitchen Manager will oversee the overall operations for the central kitchen and assist with distribution of stock to all 22 plus stores located in Gauteng. The successful incumbents’ goal will be to ensure that the central kitchen runs smoothly and complies with all health and safety regulations, including duties such as ordering food items from suppliers, preparing of recipes, managing the production at the central kitchen and monitoring staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage kitchen and production staff and coordinate food orders for stores
  • Supervise production and food prep as well as cooking
  • Check food weighing and portioning
  • Establish portion sizes and packaging
  • Schedule kitchen staff shifts
  • Price items in collaboration with the Distribution Manager and General Manager
  • Order food supplies and kitchen equipment, as needed
  • Train kitchen staff on prep work and food weighing, portioning, and packaging
  • Store food products in compliance with safety practices (e.g., in refrigerators)
  • Keep weekly and monthly cost reports
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen
  • Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders
  • Supervising production and cooking
  • Checking food temperature
  • Maintain a fully stocked kitchen inventory
  • Comply with safety and cleanliness standards

Experience:

  • Proven work experience for a minimum of 4 years as a Kitchen Manager in the restaurant industry or within a restaurant central kitchen
  • Hands-on experience with planning menus/recipes and ordering food items
  • Knowledge of a wide range of recipes (Food knowledge a must)
  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations (Food Hygiene and Safety Certificate)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Conflict management abilities
  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment
  • Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends
  • Qualification in Culinary Arts / Degree in Restaurant or Kitchen Management will be an advantage
  • Familiar with retail frozen products
  • Familiar with Pizza


Salary:
Market related (negotiable based on level of experience)

Working hours: Monday to Sunday, 07:00am to 16:00pm with 1 x off day per week (Monday – Thursday), and 1 x weekend off a month

Location: Distribution Centre in Kya Sands Randburg, Johannesburg
