Position Summary
As a Medical Payment Posting Representative, you’ll be on the front lines of ensuring billing accuracy and integrity for medical services rendered. You’ll play a critical role in processing patient and insurance payments, helping maintain compliance with internal processes, and supporting an overall mission of improving patient outcomes through operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately post payments and adjustments from a variety of sources including electronic remittances, paper Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), checks, and patient portals.
- Follow strict departmental reconciliation processes to ensure clean and compliant payment records.
- Update patient demographics and account data to support accurate billing.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding payments, ensuring timely and professional communication.
- Prioritize incoming tasks to maintain productivity goals and meet or exceed daily posting benchmarks.
- Review and post contractual adjustments, insurance denials, and other payment variances.
- Collaborate with internal teams to facilitate claim corrections and resubmissions when necessary.
- Organize and maintain documentation for refund requests and audit support.
- Maintain low error rates and high accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Qualifications
- 1–2+ years of experience in medical billing, payment posting, or healthcare revenue cycle preferred.
- Strong understanding of EOBs, insurance terminology, and medical billing processes.
- Minimum one year experience in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) or practice management systems.
- High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines and volume goals.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in billing or coding are a plus.
