Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief People Officer of a third-party logistics provider that focuses on enterprise solutions for its customers including asset and non-asset solutions.
The Carrier Relations Manager is responsible for reviewing and overseeing the execution of Cargo Claims, Carrier Compliance, and Risk Control polices and protocols. Responsible for quickly reviewing and assessing newly onboarded Carriers for authority, insurance, reports, and other red flags, and approving or denying the use of Carriers. Responsible for receiving, reviewing, investigating, and recommending a course of action on all aspects of grievances and cargo claims received from customers and carriers. Will screen the carrier base regularly and remove carrier partners that do not meet safety compliance. Responsible for a claim/loss prevention process to eliminate claims before they occur through proper handling of freight as well as paperwork. Will help facilitate customer cargo claims with hired Carriers and their insurance providers. Will review, organize, analyze, and submit documentation to insurance providers, and communicate denials, approvals, and settlements to customers. Will manage with internal and external legal counsel claims litigation courses of action. Will consult with business leadership based upon analysis and interpretation of claims results, scorecard interpretation. Will review current policies and process for improvements and relevance, creating and developing new replacement processes.

Background Required:
  • Progressive experience with cargo claims in non-asset environment (5+ years)
  • Deep understanding of transportation and logistics industry practices
  • Track record of improving claims recovery percentages
  • Experience training internal parties on basics of cargo claims best practices
  • Mode of Transportation (i.e. Truckload, LTL, Refrigerated, Flat Bed)
  • Negotiations
  • Carrier Onboarding
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Residence: Nashville, TN (relocation assistance)
