We are actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cardio Thoracic ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our state-of-the-art Cardio Vascular ICU team. This full-time role offers both day and night shifts, catering to flexible scheduling needs. As a Cardio Thoracic ICU RN, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized care to patients with critical cardiac conditions. This position demands a highly skilled individual who can deliver exceptional patient care under pressure, work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team, and manage advanced technology in critical care settings.
Salary: DOE (Dependant on Experience) per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and personalized nursing care to patients in the Cardio Thoracic ICU.
- Monitor patient's vital signs and heart condition, respond to life-saving situations using appropriate nursing techniques.
- Administer medications, maintain detailed paperwork, and assist with the installation and maintenance of intravenous infusions and other therapeutic interventions.
- Collaborate effectively with cardiovascular surgeons and other medical professionals to plan, implement, and evaluate patient treatment plans.
- Support and educate patients and their families on treatment protocols while in the ICU.
- Adhere to all hospital safety protocols and standards in caring for critically ill patients.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- BSN required.
- Active New York RN license/registration.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Critical Care & Telemetry.
- Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience in a hospital setting.
- Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Red Cross.
- Must obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of employment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficient in using healthcare software and electronic health records (EHR).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a cardio thoracic intensive care unit.
- Additional certifications related to critical care nursing.
- Prior experience with mechanical ventilation systems and post-operative care.
- Demonstrated ability to work in high pressure environments.
- Experience in leading a team or training new staff.
