Position Responsibilities:
Reporting the to the Capital Projects leadership of a leading producer of industrial pressure-treated wood products. Responding to the vital infrastructure needs of economy, they manufacture and distribute railway ties, utility poles, residential lumber, and industrial wood products across North America.
The Capital Projects Manager responsibilities will include the conception, analysis, design, justification and management of engineering projects involving capital expenditure. Provide overall project engineering and management on capital projects. Responsible for scope definition, capital cost estimates, operating cost caving development, investment justification, system design, cost values analysis, development of engineering design specifications. Supervision & management of outside consulting firms and contractors. Manage project installation/construction, start-up, commissioning and effective technology transfer and training to plant personnel. Tracks and analyzes information for production improvement including process automation and controls. Analyzes space and equipment utilization for both manufacturing and yard. Stays current with ASMA, AWPA, API, PSHA and any other relative codes and standard to ensure compliance. Travel expectation approximately 75% or more.

Background Required:
  • Project Management (3-5 Years)
  • Process treatment, equipment sizing and selection, piping and controls (5years)
  • Trouble shooting equipment and controls and/or process automation controls and electronics
  • Create reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Capital cost estimates, operating cost caving development, investment justification, system design, cost values analysis, development of engineering design specifications
  • Supervision of outside consulting firms and contractors
  • Project installation/construction, start-up, commissioning and effective technology transfer and training to plant personnel
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Engineering) or demonstrated competency in Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Industrial work
  • Residence: Remote (GA, AL, SC)
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)
  • Created, managed, and participated in safety programs
  • ASMA, AWPA, API, PSHA
  • AutoCAD
  • Advanced Degree– Masters of Science in Engineering
