Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the CEO of a non-asset logistics provider that is experiencing rapid growth while staying committed to an excellent customer experience.
The COO will be responsible for managing the operations and sales development of the $20 million+ business unit. The COO would work alongside the CEO in developing and supporting the successful execution of the company’s short-term and long-term strategies. The COO will be responsible for driving profitable growth across the organization including supporting expansion with new and existing customers, the recruitment and retention of high-quality personnel, the alignment and build-out of capacity to support growth and the establishment of infrastructure as the organization scales. All existing and future branch management would report up to the COO. The COO would be a critical member of senior management and work to ensure alignment of functional areas in support of targeted growth. The COO would also support build-out of branch network and targeted acquisition strategy by ensuring consistency of culture, processes, and structure throughout the organization’s expansion.

Background Required:
  • Progressive Executive Leadership roles within freight brokerage (7+)
  • Specific experience relating to development of sales or business development functions
  • Track record of driving profitable growth with P&L responsibility
  • Experience in establishing organizational infrastructure in growth businesses
  • Service oriented with an understanding and appreciation for customer-focused mentality
  • Strong relationship and people skills that blend with “producer” culture of hardworking and relatively autonomous employees
  • Track record of driving efficiencies through improved processes, pricing, IT systems and data analytics
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and interact well with all levels of the organization
  • Thorough understanding of brokerage industry processes and best practices
  • Short term and long-term planning and execution abilities
  • High energy with ability to lead by example
  • Knowledgeable within Supply Chain Technological Systems (i.e. TMS) and ability to increase utilization to drive efficiencies
  • CRM (i.e., Salesforce. Business Analytics Software)
  • Computer literate (Office Suite, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Education: 4-year Bachelor-s degree (i.e., Business, logistics or related discipline)
  • Mode of Transportation (i.e. FTL, LTL, OTR)
  • Travel: Up to 25%
