Our client, one of the nation's Leading Hardwood Lumber Manufacturers, is on the hunt for a Chief Operating Officer. The COO oversees the company's ongoing Manufacturing Operations and Procedures. As a key member of the senior management team, the COO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and establishes policies that promote company culture and vision through its operations. The COO role is a high-visibility position, requiring strong interpersonal skills and the responsibility of being called upon to positively represent the organization in the community and in the media. The COO must maintain the highest level of integrity and lead by example in all areas. Position responsibilities:

  • Advancing the culture of the Company with a strong sense of urgency
  • Mapping, assessing, and streamlining complex processes to enable improved profitability, service, and Scale ability
  • Establishing, improving, and using key metrics and key performance indicators to drive performance
  • Reporting operational results in an accurate and reliable fashion
  • Leading the adoption, implementation, and utilization of information technology resources
  • Collaborating with the CEO and Board of Directors to develop and define strategic business direction to oversee the planning and production of FY organizational and program budgets as well as forecasts in alignment with financial goals
  • Develop a short and long term fiscal model for the organization, that ensures sustainability over time
  • Run day-to-day operations, including fiscal controls and the achievement of annual budgets approved by the board
  • Work regularly with program leaders and outsourced consultant to collaboratively develop and monitor strategic goals and priorities
  • Effectively communicate with Members of the Board to articulate the organization’s financial position, and ramifications of short and long-term decisions
  • Define and produce timely and accurate reports as a basis for organizational analysis and decision-making
  • Leading annual budgeting of matters under his/her direct control, making periodic re forecasts as needed

Position Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of dynamic experience, with a demonstrated track record of driving margin improvement and operational efficiency in a manufacturing environment
  • BS/BA required; MBA or relevant advanced degree a plus
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management
  • Experience re-engineering internal processes to drive efficiency, increase profitability, and support revenue growth
  • A proven ability to bring to bear technology and systems to drive operational improvements and profitability
  • Responsible for driving the company to achieve and exceed sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives
  • Experience in the wood products manufacturing industry
  • High level understanding of all business functions such as IT, HR, Finance, Sales, Marketing, etc
  • Aptitude in sound decision making and problem solving in pressure situations
  • Demonstrable competency in planning and business development
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities, including the ability to recognize and nurture rising talent
  • Acquisition and integration experience strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership ability, interpersonal skill set, and high-reaching nature
  • P&L experience in middle market, smaller business, or highly ambitious organizations is strongly preferred
