CNC Machinist

Mon-Thu 6:30am-5pm, Fridays 6:30am-2pm

Job Summary

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to produce precision-machined components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience with CNC machining, inspection equipment, and machining processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions.
• Load and modify CNC programs as required.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and workholding equipment.
• Set machine offsets and make dimensional adjustments during production.
• Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Maintain required dimensional tolerances and surface-finish specifications.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make appropriate process adjustments.
• Monitor tooling condition and replace or adjust tools as needed.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policies.
• Work with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Meet production schedules while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or machining certification preferred.
• 2+ years of CNC machining experience preferred.
• Experience operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
• Basic understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and machining principles.
• Ability to make CNC program/offset adjustments.
• Strong mechanical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
