CNC Machinist Lead
Local machine shop in North Tulsa is seeking to hire a Machinist Lead for 2nd shift. Mon-Thu 5:30pm-5:30am, $3 shift differential.
The CNC Machinist Lead is responsible for overseeing daily machining operations, ensuring production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and supporting team members on the shop floor. This role requires advanced technical expertise in CNC machining, particularly with 3-axis and 5-axis milling, along with leadership capabilities to guide and mentor machinists.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of CNC machinists to meet production goals and deadlines
- Set up, program, and operate CNC machines, including 3-axis and 5-axis mills
- Interpret complex blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications
- Optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain high-quality standards
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions
- Ensure proper tooling selection, setup, and maintenance
- Conduct first-piece inspections and oversee in-process quality checks
- Train, mentor, and evaluate machinists to enhance team performance and skill development
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams on process improvements
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of experience as a CNC Machinist
- Proven experience operating and setting up 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong understanding of G-code programming and CNC controls
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings
- Experience with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and team leadership abilities
