CNC Lead Machinist and Programmer

Join our specialized machining team as a CNC Lead Machinist and Programmer, and drive operation excellence in our high-precision CNC MILL/TURN department. Salary: $93,600 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize and oversee daily production schedules aiming to meet stringent quality and efficiency targets.
  • Create and modify CNC programs using MasterCam, Fusion 360, and SolidWorks, and manage CAD model generation.
  • Design and adjust setup sheets, develop fixtures, and streamline processes for new products to enhance machine operations.
  • Make necessary on-the-fly G & M code adjustments directly on the production floor to refine performance and outcomes.
  • Design, modify, and repair machining fixtures to maintain constant production support and advancements.
  • Ensure strict quality assurance by supervising setups, inspecting first-article parts, ensuring ISO 9001 and medical standards are met.
  • Provide technical support, acting as an expert liaison between management and customers, offering guidance and solutions.
  • Lead prototype development for new products, focusing on innovative process solutions and precision machining.
  • Manage critical quality control processes for high-precision components, adhering to exceptionally tight tolerances (+/- .0005").

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in CNC programming, with specific knowledge in the setup and operation of Citizen, Haas, and Eurotech machines.
  • Expert handling of FANUC controls for CNC milling and lathe operations.
  • Substantial experience in machining various stainless steels and high-performance alloys like Inconel 718 and BioDur 108.
  • Demonstrated CAD/CAM capabilities, proficient in MasterCam, Fusion 360, and SolidWorks.
  • Expertise in G & M code editing for real-time programming and adjustments on the shop floor.
  • Proven track record of maintaining ISO 9001 standards with a focus on medical device manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience overseeing a team in a CNC production environment, especially within the medical devices sector.
  • Familiarity with additional CNC controls and automated machining systems will be advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for managing diverse teams and interfacing effectively with stakeholders.
  • In-depth understanding of advanced material properties and suitable machining techniques for exotic alloys.
  • Continual learning mindset to keep up-to-date with the latest machining technologies and practices.

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment.
  • Detailed knowledge and practical application of engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
