CNC Field Service Technician

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of high voltage (220-440v) and low voltage (12v-24v) electrical systems using schematics and multimeters.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations with a multimeter to assess voltage, current, and resistance, ensuring all systems perform accurately.
  • Interpret PLCs operations in conjunction with power supplies, input/output configurations, switches, and HMI components.
  • Manage and resolve issues with servo drives and motion control systems, maintaining optimal performance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Read and analyze pneumatic schematics to support the assembly or repair of machinery.
  • Display an advanced level of mechanical skills in the disassembly and reassembly of complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • Educate and guide customers during the installation and setup of CNC lathe controls and magazine bar feeding systems, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Offer training to users on new systems, ensuring they are comfortable and proficient with new installations.
  • Regular travel to client sites, requiring flexibility and commitment to outstanding client service.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members.
  • Proven customer service proficiency in high-pressure environments.
  • Basic to intermediate computer competencies for efficient digital logging and customer file management.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude to manage installations and repairs efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years of experience in field service roles, specifically with electrical and mechanical systems related to CNC machines.
  • Formal training or certifications in electrical engineering or CNC machine operation.
  • Experience with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, or Siemens CNC controls.
  • Familiarity with handling both high and low voltage power systems.
  • Capacity to adapt to flexible work hours and frequent travel requirements.

Skills:

  • Expert proficiency in using electrical diagnostic tools, such as multimeters.
  • Advanced mechanical skills, including the use of hand and power tools for machine repair and maintenance.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to clearly report and document service details.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
