The Caswood Group is hiring Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) for a long term care facility in the East Side of Monroe County.
This position is for EVENINGS, Monday - Friday, Evenings, Every other weekend, 3-11PM.
This is a 13 Week contract, Full-Time.
Certified Nursing Assistant Responsibilities
Completion of a NYS approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.

Certified Nursing Assistant Responsibilities
- Provides and/or assist the resident in all activities of daily living as per individual care plan.
- Maintains residents stability by checking vital signs and weight and recording information
- Provides resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials.
- Assist with transporting residents to different areas of facility as necessary; activities off unit, hairdresser, etc.
- Answering residents call lights and request
- Encourage the resident to function at his/her maximum level by assisting in restorative techniques and encouraging as much independence as possible.
- Attend all mandatory in-services per code, mandatory C.N.A. meetings a year and completes required hours of educational in-services to maintain certification.
- Maintain appropriate records adhering to established policies, procedures, and regulations of nursing home.
- Pass meal trays, assist feeding residents, and monitor meals as per policy. Pass water pitcher and nourishment. Record meal consumption, record I&O.
- Interacts supportively with residents, family and other staff.
- Receives and gives report to team leader at the beginning and end of shift respectively.
- Responsible for carrying out facility safety and infection control program (hand washing)
- Observe and report resident needs, abnormal conditions or behavioral changes to team leader, charge nurse or nurse manager.
- Completes assignment in a timely fashion. Follows resident care plan as written.
- Maintains the resident’s room and supplies in a neat manner.
- Assist in promoting the Quality of life set forth in the “Residents Bill of Rights”.
- Carries resident assignment sheet on person while on duty. Does not leave sheet where available for others to read. States or able to locate information i.e. resident C.P.R. status.
- Respects the confidentiality of patients, departments, and nursing home information.
- Reports to work on time and is on the unit and ready for duty at 7:00 am, 3:00 pm, or 11:00 pm.
- Gives adequate notice to supervisory personnel when calling in sick or late, according to department standards.
- Lifts and transfers residents as per individual care plans.
- Punches in and out, consistent with nursing home policy.
- Observes department guidelines regarding use of meal periods, coffee, breaks, and quitting time. Signs out and in at meal time.
- Does not abuse sick time when used, is verified as required.
- Resolves conflicts or problems in working relationships without involvement of higher authority.
- Safety rules and procedures are followed. Works carefully and avoids situations that could lead to and accident.
- All accidents are reported to supervisor upon occurrence, an incident form is completed and sent to DNS.
- Work area and equipment are kept clean and orderly.
- Utilizes personal protection equipment, engineering and work practice controls to prevent/minimize occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.
- Works with supervisor and other members of the work group in planning and building an effective team.
- Instructions are followed, work schedules and standards met without close supervision.
- Work is sufficient quality and quantity.
- Deviations from established schedules and instructions are approved by nurse manager or their designee.
- Interacts with family members and other staff in a professional manner. Promote positive environments.
- Adheres to dress code at all times.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn new procedures by asking questions and/or demonstration.
- Adheres to shift routine.
- Clean closets. Put resident’s clothes away.
- Change resident’s calendars.
- Assist with new employee orientation as requested
- Assists other staff when work is completed.
- Audits completed (QA., safety, infection control) as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
