Position Summary:
The Civil Engineer will lead and support infrastructure projects in collaboration with municipalities, government agencies, and public entities. This position is responsible for planning, design, permitting, and project management of civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations while fostering strong working relationships with government stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
o Plan, design, and oversee municipal infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, utilities, water, wastewater, and storm water systems.
o Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, construction documents, and cost estimates for municipal and government projects.
o Coordinate with municipalities, state and federal agencies, utility providers, and regulatory authorities to obtain permits and approvals.
o Ensure all designs meet local, state, and federal codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
o Provide project management support including scheduling, budgeting, and overseeing contractors and consultants.
o Represent the organization in meetings with government officials, city councils, planning boards, and public stakeholders.
o Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress and ensure quality control.
o Assist in preparing proposals, bids, and funding/grant applications for public works projects.
o Maintain strong professional relationships with municipalities and agencies to facilitate ongoing and future project work.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
o Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
o 5+ years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on municipal or government projects.
o Strong knowledge of public works, infrastructure design, and regulatory requirements.
o Experience working with municipalities, DOTs, or other government agencies.
o Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills for working with government stakeholders and the public.
o Proficiency in engineering software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or similar).
Strong project management and organizational skills.
