The company is a leading manufacturer of plastic packaging components, with multiple locations throughout North America. The company is seeking to enhance its operational capabilities, as well as build a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. To achieve this objective, the company is seeking to add an experienced and proven leader to provide thought leadership, project management and hands-on execution of activities.

II. SUMMARY OF POSITION

Job Title: Continuous Improvement Leader

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Primary Location: St. Louis, MO

Education: Bachelor’s Degree – Engineering or Operations Management

Experience: 10+ years of proven leadership experience
Extensive experience leading Lean operations transformations
Plastics molding experience is a plus

Travel Expectations: Substantial – up to 80% for extended periods

Compensation: To be discussed; highly competitive

· The primary role of this position is to develop and implement operations improvement programs based upon the foundations of the Lean and Six Sigma. The Continuous Improvement Leader will work with executive leadership in the development and planning of a Lean Enterprise transformation strategy. This individual will be required to work with plant management and production personnel in order to implement the strategy

· The Continuous Improvement Leader will be the champion of the lean transformation effort and will lead effective on-going communication throughout the organization on the implementation of lean thinking and best practices to advance lean competencies

· The Continuous Improvement Leader will develop Lean / Continuous Improvement Teams throughout the company and all respective business units to help drive a cultural change

· A successful candidate will be able to lead the education of members of the operations team and then work side-by-side with those team members to implement the appropriate techniques and tools as part of the Operational Excellence program

· The Continuous Improvement Leader will have supervisor responsibility of ad-hoc project teams utilized in kaizen events as well as indirect reports in the form of individuals who will “own” aspects of the lean transformation in each of the company’s facilities

III. EXPECTED AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

· Work with Executive Management to develop and Operational Excellence strategy

· Create an actionable roadmap for transforming the company’s current operations into the desired state, in accordance with the Operational Excellence strategy

· Work with plant personnel in order to successfully implement and sustain improvements

· Provide thought leadership, facilitate education and lead operations improvement efforts that incorporate the following tools:

· 5S

· Kanban

· Mistake proofing

· OEE

· Root cause problem solving

· SMED

· Standardized work

· TPM

· Value streams

· Visual management

· Utilize the appropriate tools, in the appropriate sequence in order capture, sustain and continually improve operations

· Develop and facilitate delivery of results presentations following kaizen events

· Create and maintain key performance indicators that track operational improvements in:

· Costs

· Delivery performance

· Productivity

· Quality

· Provide monthly tracking of aggregate costs and benefits of improvement efforts

V. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION

· Degree in engineering, operations or industrial management

· Minimum 10 years manufacturing operations experience

· Proven leadership of 50+ kaizen improvement events

· Strong skills in math, Microsoft Office Suite & ERP systems

· Plastics processing experience is a plus

· Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a plus

· The successful candidate will be dependable and possess a high level of personal integrity
