Job Title: Critical Facilities Project Engineer

As a Project Engineer in the Critical Facilities team, you’ll play a key role in designing, engineering, and optimizing intelligent building systems that reduce energy consumption, enhance operational efficiency, and improve the comfort and safety of occupants.

In this role, you will work with a wide range of facility types from research labs and hospitals to corporate campuses and data centers each presenting unique engineering puzzles for you to solve. Responsibilities

  • Design and engineer building automation and energy management systems based on project plans, specifications, and sustainability requirements
  • Analyze system performance at both individual system and campus-wide levels
  • Ensure all project documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with engineering standards
  • Program complex required: Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and preferred: Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Create custom programming logic to maximize building efficiency and reliability
  • Build user-friendly graphical front-end interfaces for system operators
  • Collaborate directly with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams
  • Track and review project financials through monthly audits and post‑project evaluations
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts and provide input on engineering standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical recommended, other disciplines accepted)
  • Exposure to electronics and basic electrical circuits
  • Foundational knowledge of programming concepts
  • Hands-on experience working with mechanical systems
  • Understanding of DDC (Direct Digital Control) theory and applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take ownership of work and manage tasks proactively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in building automation, controls engineering, or HVAC-related fields
  • Experience with PLC programming
  • Familiarity with energy code compliance or sustainability initiatives
  • Experience analyzing complex system performance
  • Prior customer-facing or project coordination experience
  • Curiosity, lifelong learning mindset, and comfort working both independently and as part of a team
