Position Summary

This Company is looking to fill an immediate position for a full time Buyer Level 1. The Company is a rapidly growing company focused on creating world-class design and development of high-quality, innovative Unmanned Service Vessels (USV’s) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations. The Buyer will report to the Materials Manager and will be responsible for assisting purchasing functions, supporting engineering and manufacturing teams, and contributing to timely material planning and delivery. The successful candidate must possess exceptional technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. They should demonstrate keen attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and a proven track record of effectively managing priorities. Adaptability and sound judgment are essential qualities for navigating evolving projects and product requirements in a fast pace environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

● Assist in placing purchase orders for materials, components, and services under the direction of senior staff.

● Assess supplier quotes, lead times, and basic sourcing options to support cost-effective procurement.

● Collaborate with engineering, planning, and finance to ensure procurement aligns with production and prototype timelines.

● Track order status and support follow-ups with vendors to ensure on-time delivery.

● Coordinate with warehouse and receiving to confirm receipt and resolve discrepancies.

● Support documentation and file maintenance in accordance with quality and audit standards.

● Contribute to weekly material readiness reviews for key builds

● Learn and grow in procurement systems, processes, and compliance frameworks.

● PR review & approval routing, convert PR—PO

● Open PO management (dates, qty, conformation)

● Contact suppliers for updates, ASN’s, certs, expedite decision making, supplier meetings

● Vendor OTIF and scorecards, consolidate sourcing strategy

● Cost negotiation/price updates, supplier audits, annual pricing agreements

● DMR/RTV supplier communication


Required Qualifications

● 3-5+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or logistics

● Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

● Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.

● Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to evolving priorities.

● Forecasting techniques or demand planning processes.


Additional Desired Qualifications

● Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, D365, etc.)

● Skilled in SOP creation or contributing to process documentation.

● Working knowledge of Arena PLM or similar product lifecycle management tools.

● Willingness to grow into roles involving supplier relationship management or project-based procurement.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

● Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.

● Capacity to lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

● Ability to move around the office or warehouse environment as needed.

● Visual acuity to read and interpret documents, including electronic screens and printed materials.

● Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and perform tasks such as typing and writing.

● Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with colleagues and external partners.

● Flexibility to adapt to changing work environments and responsibilities.
