Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a Buyer.

  • Full-time-Permanent position
  • Week Day’s 0800-1700 Monday-Thursday, 0800-1300 Friday 39 hours per week.
  • Job location: Rackery Lane, Wrexham LL12 0PB.
  • Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.

To work ethically as the senior supply chain controller will work closely with colleagues in Manufacturing, Stores, Despatch, and Quality. The supply chain controller is responsible for ensuring continuity of parts/raw materials supplied to support manufacturing and where necessary the off-load programme.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Support the Supply Chain Manager with the implementation of strategic tools and techniques to drive performance in areas such as quality, cost and delivery

  2. Work with the global team to drive low cost country sourcing

  3. Raise Purchase orders and schedules in line with MRP requirements, issue to supplier and manage OTD

  4. Action schedule changes in line with MRP and Negotiate schedule movements, order cancelations with supplier

  5. Report supplier performance (D1) to Magellan and supplier, escalating any concerns backed up with recovery plans

  6. Hold regular calls/visits with supplier

  7. Escalate any risks to supply/production

  8. Understand BOM and how they impact supply chain

  9. Supporting and attending Supply Chain Meetings as necessary

  10. Review stock parameters and lead times and make recommendations for change

  11. Submit Monthly spend forecasts and review actuals

  12. Train and support new starters

  13. Make changes to stock parameters and lead times

  14. Manage projects and report accordingly

  15. Manage introduction of new suppliers until in steady state

  16. Manage RFQ's and make/buy process

  17. Manage price change

Position Requirements
  • HSE
  1. Ensuring adherence to Magellan UK and Magellan Corporate policy and procedures.

  2. Interpret and comply with company HS&E Policies and safety regulations

  3. Identify potential hazards and take appropriate action to eliminate

    Production Output

  4. Undertake specific supply chain projects as required.

  5. Contributing to lower costs and higher inventory turnover objectives.


  6. Constantly improving the quality and reliability of supply.

  7. Maintenance of supply contracts to improve quality and reliability of supply. Sourcing new suppliers as necessary


  8. Sourcing new, or appropriate, suppliers for particular business requirements

  9. Management of supplier portfolios – from new product introduction to serial production and ensuring OTD

    Continuous Improvement

  10. Procurement of products/components in new products/material or engineering change projects. Including prototypes, tooling and pre-production batches

  11. Ensuring the external tooling register is updated and monitored.

  12. Maintain EFACS data integrity (delivery schedules, etc.).


  13. Adhering to 6sNEBOSH General Certificate or higher

  14. Knowledge and experience of H&S requirements in Aerospace manufacturing

  15. In-depth knowledge of H&S compliance legislation

  16. Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and Environmental Management

  17. Working knowledge of OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001

  18. Technician (or higher) member of IOSH

  19. Excellent communication and engagement skills

  20. IT literate, proficient in MS Office

  21. Results focused, with ability to work on own initiative
