The Business Unit Leader oversees and monitors all activities, and personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy application, employee relations and continuous improvement related to the Business Unit functions. Under the general direction of the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, the Business Unit Leader has ongoing contacts both internally and externally and must combine technical, human and conceptual skills to plan, control and lead the team toward meeting divisional objectives.

  1. Know and understand Quality and Environmental policies.
  2. Contribute to Continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
  3. Launch and maintain work cells to meet and exceed customer requirements
  4. Improve housekeeping and plant organization including plant layout
  5. Monitor and address safety & environmental concerns on the shop floor
  6. Monitor quality issues toward our goal of zero defects
  7. Control overtime in line with the Business Plan
  8. Improve efficiency by reducing set-up times
  9. Assist team members in troubleshooting machine, die, and material problems
  10. Reduce scrap; monitor key indicators for positive trends
  11. Provide a safe and healthful work environment that is free of recognized hazards for all team members, contractors and visitors
  12. Advise team members, contractors and visitors of any actual or potential danger to their safety or health, and ensure the necessary training and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided
  13. Cooperate with all local, state and federal agencies, such as OSHA or the EPA, in the event of an inspection
  14. Know, follow and enforce all applicable SH&E Policies and Procedures
  15. Help manage Safety Performance Measurables such as Incident Rate and Monthly
  16. Inspection Results.
  17. Overall performance to the measurable elements of our SH&E system are part of annual performance reviews
  18. Participates in establishing and implementing departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures
  19. Follow-up on dimensional corrections
  20. Decides corrective actions in accordance with related departments
  21. Responsible for product review and monitoring of dimensional deficiencies
  22. Assures that the Area is ready to pass system and process audits at any time
  23. Monitor equipment performance and initiate counter measures
  24. Review customer feedback on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and initiate counter measures and/or activities required to fulfill the customer's expectations
  25. Assures that customer goals, specifications and requirements are met
  26. Performs written, documented audits on a frequent basis
  27. Has excellent product knowledge of the process supervised
  28. Has profound understanding of customer product specifications and requirements as well as basic understanding of customer processes.
  29. Assures compliance with rules and regulations
  30. Root cause analysis and countermeasures implemented in a timely manner
  31. Works cross-functionally with Materials, Press, Engineering, and Quality to assure flawless execution in production
