Business Commercial Insurance Litigation Attorney – Growth Track to Partnership

A highly regarded California-based boutique litigation firm is seeking a skilled and motivated attorney with experience in business commercial insurance litigation, including bad faith matters. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of experience, although attorneys with at least 2 years of high-caliber litigation work will be considered if they show exceptional promise.

This opportunity is tailored for a driven attorney eager to grow into a non-equity partnership, with potential for equity partnership based on business development. The incoming attorney will help fill the gap left by a recently relocated junior partner and will be involved in complex litigation, including trial and arbitration work.

Must-Haves

  • 5–10 years of experience in business and commercial insurance litigation (strong junior candidates with less experience will be considered).

  • Exceptional legal writing skills, demonstrated through high-quality briefs (summary judgment samples preferred).

  • Strong work ethic, responsiveness, and readiness to contribute to a collaborative team culture.

  • Prepared to provide writing samples and references.

  • Willingness to be in the office 2–4 days per week to support mentorship, client service, and team cohesion.

  • Active license to practice law in California.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Trial and arbitration experience, especially in bad faith litigation.

  • A small book of business, with interest in growing it collaboratively.

  • A competitive background (e.g., sports, high-performance environments) reflecting drive and ambition.

  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to independently offer strategic solutions after 3–6 months.

Compensation & Perks

  • Base salary: $160,000–$220,000.

  • Bonus structure: 8–10% of salary for billing 180 hours/month (150 billable + 30–60 credited admin hours).

  • Flexible hybrid work model with regular in-office collaboration.

  • Annual firm retreat for attorneys and their partners, featuring spa activities, golf, entertainment, and team bonding (including a firm-wide fantasy football league).

  • Clear path to non-equity partnership, with equity possible for those who contribute to business development.

Firm Culture & Career Development

  • The firm is known for successfully litigating against major national firms, with a strong track record in insurance coverage, bad faith, and unfair trade practices.

  • Emphasizes a collaborative, no-drama environment where attorneys enjoy long-term, meaningful relationships with colleagues.

  • Offers strong mentorship, real responsibility, and visibility from day one.

This is an ideal opportunity for an attorney who is ambitious, client-focused, and seeking a long-term platform to grow within a high-performing, collegial litigation team.
