Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP, Operations for a well-respected logistics company servicing the chemical industry. Their supply chain platform is uniquely positioned to provide a complete line of service offerings for the chemical industry. The company has an extensive network of 25 terminals and 16 warehousing/packaging facilities nationwide with a fleet of more than 1,700 trucks and 1,800 trailers. Delivers a 360-degree supply chain suite with offerings that span bulk and liquid transportation, to warehousing and rail storage, to in-plant services, ISO intermodal and more. They can also provide end to end supply chain solutions for their customers with modes such as bulk (dry and liquid), dry van, rail, ocean, intermodal, and 3PL & 4PL inventory control solutions.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, cleansing, and transforming data from various sources, setting up security roles, and conducting training of end users. This includes providing technical and analytical guidance for Power BI architecture and implementing best practices in application systems development and security. They will serve as a valued business partner to the 3PL brokerage division by developing creative solutions to provide management with actionable insights, answer business critical questions, and fulfill other information needs. Write SQL queries and retrieve data in a highly complex relational database environment. Design, configure, develop, and debug reports in Power BI. Build, update, and maintain technical documentation for projects and participate in architecture, technical design, and product implementation strategies. Will need to interact effectively with business partners to understand business requirements and assist in developing project scope, requirements, timeline, and goals.

Background Required:
  • SQL data retrieval and analysis (2+ years)
  • Microsoft Power BI (Desktop, Services, Paginated, Gateway)
  • Dax and M languages regarding Power BI Formulas and calculations
  • Relational database experience (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, or Essbase)
  • Architecture and technical design
  • Data mining and analysis
  • Ability to build, update, and maintain technical documentation for projects
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree (Information Systems, Computer Science, business, or related field)
  • Residence: Chicago, Houston, or Remote
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Experience with business, finance, or supply chain analytics.
  • Understanding of basic data warehousing concepts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate functionality
  • Data Modeling using R/Python
