Our client is a well-established international firm specializing in water and membrane solutions.

The Business Development Specialist – Process Applications will provide on-going support to defined customers on a daily basis. This role is the primary customer interface for commercial items and aggressively targets expansion opportunities within the market, while identifying and developing key distributors / OEMs / integrators / end users. The position requires focus on prospecting and developing new process markets and applications, and supports the implementation of business strategies while maintaining profitable relationships focused on accelerating opportunities and driving funnel growth within the membrane process market (dairy, cheese, whey, gelatin, protein, etc.). The ideal candidate is located in California or Texas.

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Overseeing the United States sales territory.
  • Focusing on process industry markets such as dairy, cheese, whey, gelatin, and protein.
  • Focusing sales on key technologies – RO, UF, NF, MF, and MBR.
  • Supporting the business in strategy execution and implementing the regional growth plan (preparing a strategic sales plan focusing on target accounts and markets, supporting order analysis, reviewing contracts, preparing and maintaining relevant documentation).
  • Within the company, working with Product Marketing, R&D / Engineering, Program Management/Teams.
  • Working with industry specialists, OEMS, integrators, distributors, and end users.
  • Providing ongoing technical support and ensuring high-quality customer service (following up on orders, customer visits, preparing and conducting customer presentations).
  • Serving as a liaison between the customer and company departments and understanding customer needs.
  • Preparing price analyses, as well as the operational sales planning.
  • Preparing and conducting price negotiations for new projects and customers.
  • Supporting the business with market research and industry intelligence.

Key result areas include:

  • Achieving annual booking and revenue targets.
  • Establishing new channel partners (OEMs, Distributors, Integrators) for driving growth and
  • increasing market coverage.
  • Achieving and maintaining customer and channel partner satisfaction.
  • Providing rapid response to internal and external needs.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • University degree in the field of Food Science or Biotechnology
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant business experience in sales and/or business development in membrane filtration in the food, dairy, or biotechnology industries.
  • Ability to demonstrate successful territory growth
  • Customer driven, organization and coordination skills, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure.
  • Able to travel approximately 40%.
  • Conflict management, strong communication skills.
  • Basic system experience (MS Office, Excel, Sales Force, SAP, etc.

The base salary for this position is $115,000 - $150,000, plus commissions and full company benefits.
