Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Station Owner of a full-service international logistics firm with 24 locations in the United States and a portfolio of services that includes global freight forwarding, domestic transportation, time critical shipping, reverse logistics, and value added services. Our client’s mission is to help those they touch grow, and their ultimate goal is to become the leading agency-based freight forwarder in the United States. The Business Development Manager role is to expand our client’s domestic and international business in the United States while supporting international operations activities. Coordinates complete sales cycle process including prospect list initiation, lead generation, prospect qualification, analysis, RFQs, pricing, proposal preparation & presentation(s), contract signing, start-up and follow-up after the sale. Ensures quality customer service, process efficiency and industry compliance for international customers through exceptional operations practices (i.e. rate quotes, shipment tracking & status updates, proof of delivery). Processes all related documentation (i.e. airway bills, pick-up orders, POAs and manifests) between customers, vendors, forwarders, brokers and government agencies. Gathers and enter carrier or government charges (i.e. duties, taxes, etc.) and processes vendor charge variances. Continuously collaborates with operations team to increase revenues, optimize costs, and maximize profits.

Background Required:
  • Freight forwarding sales (3 years)
  • International freight forwarding operations (3 years)
  • Multimodal (i.e. air, ocean, import/export, FTL, LTL, rail)
  • Proven track record of success
  • Time, territory & contact management
  • Bids, quotes, proposals, negotiations, and SOPs for new accounts
  • Travel up to 50%
  • Computer literate: Microsoft suite (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • Residence: Home Office (USA)
