Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Manager of Business Development of a Freight Management company, part of a billion-dollar supply chain service provider with rapidly growing capabilities in transportation, warehouse and distribution center support, yard management, last mile delivery, supply chain optimization, and more. The Freight Management company was named on Crain’s Fast 50 list of the fastest-growing companies in Chicago, and on Transport Topics Top Freight Brokerage Firms.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for the complete sales process including prospecting, lead generation, pricing, and closing the business. Responsible for leveraging the suite of capacity services and solutions to identify potential new customers, nurture relationships, and build lasting partnerships. Will achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly KPIs and financial objectives. Effectively manage a consistent pipeline to ensure leads are converted to new business. Design and execute a business development strategy for each account that provides continuous, profitable growth. Approach quoting opportunities strategically to maximize profit and growth. Manage client daily activities to ensure a seamless experience and prepare client business reviews in support of continuous improvement opportunities. Challenge is to increase revenues and maximize profitability.

Background Required:
  • Business Development within a Freight Brokerage environment (3+ years)
  • Modes of Transportation (i.e. Truckload, LTL, Intermodal, Specialized)
  • Strong Selling Skills
  • Strong Negotiation Ability (Carrier, Customer, Margin Integrity)
  • Develop and execute business plan strategies
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Suite: Power Point, Word, Excel)
  • Residence: Chicago, IL
