Business Development Manager - Automotive Dealership
Plymouth, Michigan

The Business Development manager will be responsible for acquiring and retaining key customers within designated customer segments while building successful sales and marketing teams. In this role, the Business Development Manager will establish relationships, communicate the company's value proposition and identify solutions for their customers within the dealership.

Job Duties

  • Actively seek means of growing revenues to improve the profitability of the business units under management and to grow the business in size and scope
  • Identify areas where the business can increase its footprint by identifying potential partnerships, opportunities to enhance distribution and open up new markets, and develop methods to enhance efficiency within the organization’s sales and marketing departments
  • Build and maintain positive and profitable customer relationships
  • Work with the sales operations team to support transactional customer relationships
  • Motivate, mentor, and counsel sales personnel throughout the business unit to promote personal and professional growth
  • Develop, create and execute customer proposals and presentations
  • Implement and utilize analytical and data-driven approaches to measuring, managing, and improving the operations of the business unit
  • Gather and disseminate information to sales and marketing leadership as it relates to business performance, e.g., staffing, budget, revenue dynamics, and operational risks
  • This position will report to the Senior Director of Remarketed Sales

Skills Required

  • Demonstrated leadership, sales, and negotiation skills
  • Adept in consultative selling techniques and developing customer solutions
  • Evidence of strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in computer applications and use of data analytics
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that facilitates the success of business operations to meet company demands and expectations
  • Ability to evaluate alternatives to make the best overall decisions based on KPI metrics, service requirements, economic factors, customer relations, and driver needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with key customers as needed
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment and handle moderate stress environment

Qualifications

  • College Degree with at least three (3) years of experience in sales
  • Prior experience in the logistics industry is preferred
  • Experience in the remarketed automotive industry, such as selling into auto dealerships, rental car agencies, automobile auctions, and/or auto lenders is a plus
  • Prior experience in CRM utilization, preferably with Salesforce
  • Strong knowledge base and comfort with technology including Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • Demonstrated results in building collaborative and effective sales and marketing teams
