Business Development Executive, Commercial Construction Solutions

Our client, a prominent player in the architectural hardware and construction supply industry, is seeking a driven Business Development Executive to support their fast-growing Division 8 (commercial doors and hardware) segment. This role blends technical knowledge with hands-on relationship-building across new build commercial projects, with a focus on mixed-use retail and standalone retail developments.   • Note: Candidates must live within 75 miles of the Auburn, IN region or be open to relocation.

This Role Offers:

Focus:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for developers and general contractors on commercial construction projects.
  • Manage a mixed workload of estimating and field sales activities (roughly 50/50 split).
  • Attend construction site meetings, collect field measurements, and gather specifications to develop detailed estimates.
  • Generate proposals and communicate bid information effectively to internal teams and external clients.
  • Drive product recommendations and consult on hardware and materials, ensuring alignment with code compliance and client expectations.
  • Foster long-term client relationships through strategic account management and ongoing engagement.
  • Track project bids, lead follow-ups, and manage sales funnel activity in alignment with team goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to refine pricing strategy and secure manufacturer quotes that optimize margin.
  • Attend department meetings and contribute to team-wide strategic planning initiatives.
  • Provide input on new product offerings, client pain points, and construction industry trends.

Skill Set:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, construction, or engineering-related field preferred, but not required.
  • Experience with ERP tools like Comsense is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to job sites.
  • Proven experience in B2B sales within the construction or building materials industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with Division 8 materials (commercial doors, frames, and hardware) is strongly preferred.
  • Capable of reading blueprints and understanding architectural specifications.
  • Must be a confident communicator, adept in face-to-face meetings and capable of developing rapport quickly with project managers and decision-makers.
  • Previous experience in estimating or willingness to learn estimating tools and methods.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable working independently while being a collaborative team player.
