As a new analyst, you will become a member of CarMax's Analyst Rotation Program (ARP). A 24-month program, ARP will provide analysts with a broad understanding of our business and enable analysts to develop the breadth of skills and experiences necessary to further their success. Analysts in ARP will work in a variety of roles and learn from an array of leaders across the organization. You will have the opportunity to be a part of the Atlanta, GA and Richmond, VA teams throughout the program. After completing the ARP analysts will be matched with the team that best utilizes their skills to improve the business and offers opportunities for development and growth. As a Business Analyst, you will spend your time: * Working directly with our data - writing code, building reports, completing analysis, building models, etc. * Collaborating - partnering with leaders across the organization to learn about our business and identifying creative ways to solve problems (with or without data) * Innovating - being bold in the pursuit of excellence and identifying opportunities to leverage your expertise to drive meaningful impacts to the business * Influencing - presenting game-changing insights to senior executives and driving action * Having fun - enjoying the unique culture we offer at CarMax, including a healthy work/life balance A few Project Examples: * Build and maintain algorithms that determine the value of each unique vehicle. Algorithms are used to determine the price we pay to acquire cars and the margin we can achieve with the subsequent sale. * Combine statistical clustering with consumer insights to develop intuitive segmentation for our customers based on needs and attitudes with respect to cars and the car buying experience. Customer segmentation is a key input to customized marketing messages and web experiences as well as inventory decisions. * Identify performance drivers and partner cross-functionally to forecast financial results for business lines or strategic initiatives; leverage findings and collaborate with business leaders to develop tangible recommendations that maximize long-term value while meeting near-term return expectations * Provide the analysis and recommendations behind all new store investment decisions. Analytics (including sales forecasting) informs the bigger picture for CarMax growth. * Develop a credit model to systematically decision over 100,000 loan applications each month while balancing our portfolio and converting approvals to sales.
