Civil Engineering Practice / Office Leader
Location: Charlotte, NC (US 28206)
What you’ll do
-
Lead and grow the Charlotte-area civil engineering practice—partnering with firm leadership to develop strategic growth and market-expansion plans.

Identify and pursue new client relationships; deepen existing accounts; participate in business development meetings and proposal efforts.

Provide hands-on technical leadership for site-development projects from concept through permitting, design, and construction deliverables—covering commercial, residential, institutional, warehouse/distribution center and mixed-use projects.

Oversee and mentor junior to senior staff—coaching, training and motivating a multidisciplinary team of designers, engineers, and technical support personnel.

Direct site/civil engineering efforts: site layout, grading, drainage and storm water management (H/H analysis and design), infrastructure and utility design, erosion/sediment control, working closely with geotechnical and environmental teams.

Drive workforce planning and hiring initiatives for the local practice; oversee operational performance, resource allocation and quality assurance for deliverables.

Serve as the local face of the practice—attend client meetings, represent the office in the market, manage logistics such as travel to sites, and ensure the team adheres to firm-standards and client expectations.
What you bring

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent); North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

A minimum of 15 years of relevant civil/site engineering experience—demonstrated success in site development projects of various sizes.

Established regional client network and strong client-development, client-management capabilities.

Proven technical design experience: ability to lead site layout, grading, drainage/infrastructure, storm-water design (H/H), utilities, erosion control from initiation through completion.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D (or comparable design platforms) preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of proposal preparation, technical writing and professional organization participation.

Strong organizational skills and attention to project detail (scope, schedule, budget) and the ability to work independently as well as lead a team.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client meetings and job-site visits.
