We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our client's team. The ideal candidate will manage financial records, process transactions, and ensure their organization's financial operations run smoothly. This role is critical in maintaining accuracy and compliance in financial reporting.
Company: Small, family-owned hardwood lumber manufacturer and distributor
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records by recording all financial transactions, including income, expenses, payroll, and accounts payable/receivable.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements monthly to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Prepare and process invoices, ensuring timely payment from clients and to vendors.
- Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, providing regular updates to management.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and reports as needed.
- Handle payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable financial regulations.
- Collaborate with accountants for tax preparation and audits.
- Respond to inquiries from management or external stakeholders regarding financial records.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within a smaller company.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and best practices.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations is a plus.
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
