Salary: $310,000.00 - $435,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic guidance on patent portfolio management, including domestic and international prosecution and enforcement.
- Lead client engagements for strategic IP lifecycle management, focusing on complex issues related to second-generation drugs, biologics, and comprehensive international patent strategies.
- Perform thorough due diligence assessments, deliver expert counseling on IP transactions, and devise strategies for infringement defense and avoidance.
- Represent major biotechnology clients in significant patent disputes before the USPTO, including post-grant proceedings.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to tailor patent protection strategies that align with client objectives in both nascent and established pharmaceutical ventures.
- Devise and execute IP strategies that enhance the value of client assets, advising on non-infringement, invalidity, and market competition aspects.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- JD from a top-tier law school with outstanding academic achievements.
- Active Bar Admission in California.
- At least 4 years of experience in patent counseling and prosecution in the life sciences sector.
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
Skills:
- Expert knowledge in international patent portfolio management.
- Proven ability to handle high-stakes IP litigation and administrative proceedings.
- Advanced competencies in IP transactional law, including due diligence and risk assessment.
