Salary: $310,000.00 - $435,000.00 per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive patent portfolio management, including development, prosecution, and enforcement across various international markets.
- Lead strategic IP lifecycle planning for second-generation drugs, biologics, and international patent strategies.
- Perform due diligence, offer counseling on transactions, and devise infringement, defense, and avoidance strategies.
- Represent clients in patent disputes before the USPTO, including participation in post-grant proceedings.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop patent protection strategies that align with client goals both in emerging and established pharmaceutical markets.
- Advise clients on IP matters including non-infringement, invalidity, and strategic competitive positioning to enhance the value of IP assets.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
- Active Bar Admission in North Carolina.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in patent counseling and prosecution within the life sciences industry.
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
- Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record with biotechnology companies and investors, focusing on international patent portfolio development and lifecycle management.
- Expertise in non-infringement and invalidity analysis, post-grant proceedings, and IP due diligence.
