Billing Representative, Workplace Benefits (Remote)

The Billing Representative is a key player that provides service to customers. This position is responsible for billing processes for the workplace benefits. The billing representative will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing, resolving billing issues, and coordinating with internal and external parties on inquiries related to billing. The billing specialist will be responsible for deduction audits, first bill audits, and external billing calls. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the voluntary benefit products as they relate to billing and general policy administration procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of the workplace benefits industry required
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external customers
  • Possess strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and handle a heavy workload
  • Must be detailed oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to independently analyze problems and implement solutions
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing customer billing, analyzing data, producing invoices, and billing reports accurately and timely
  • Work with the client management team, sales team, and external parties to resolve billing issues
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of billing and broker compensation related transactions
  • Develop and implement best practices for customer audits, including process documentation, training, and corrective action plans
  • Research and respond to customers (internal and external) by phone, email, or other forms of communication
  • Research issues or concerns, and escalate to appropriate parties to determine resolutions and follow up to ensure a response in given in a timely manner
  • Independently resolve customer issues related to billing to represent the Carriers brand
  • Assist other team members outside of the department when issues arise involving financial transactions such as billing discrepancies, billing questions, etc.
