Job Summary: A Batch Mixing Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring machinery used in the mixing of raw materials to produce various products in a controlled batch process. The operator ensures the proper blending of ingredients, maintains accurate measurements, and adheres to safety and quality standards throughout the mixing process.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operation of Mixing Equipment:

    • Set up, operate, and monitor batch mixing equipment according to established procedures.
    • Ensure that all ingredients are properly measured, mixed, and blended according to the specified recipe or formula.
  2. Material Handling:

    • Load raw materials and ingredients into mixing vessels.
    • Maintain an accurate inventory of materials and report any shortages or discrepancies.
    • Verify the quality and quantity of incoming materials before use.
  3. Monitoring and Quality Control:

    • Monitor mixing processes to ensure correct ingredient ratios and consistency of the mixture.
    • Perform in-process quality checks, including viscosity, temperature, and other required specifications.
    • Adjust mixing parameters as necessary to achieve desired product quality.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Adhere to regulatory requirements and company standards related to product quality, hygiene, and safety.
    • Properly clean and maintain equipment to avoid contamination and ensure efficient operation.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Record batch mixing data, including ingredients used, mixing times, temperatures, and any adjustments made.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or deviations from the standard operating procedures to supervisors.
  6. Troubleshooting:

    • Identify and troubleshoot issues during the mixing process.
    • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs to mixing equipment to minimize downtime.
  7. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other team members, including quality control, production, and maintenance teams.
    • Assist in training new operators and sharing best practices for efficient batch mixing.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require technical certifications or an associate degree).
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in a mixing or blending role.
  • Basic understanding of machinery, mixing processes, and quality control techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials when necessary.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and ability to implement them effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automated or computer-controlled batch mixing systems.
  • Certification in safety, quality control, or a related field.

Work Environment:

  • Typically works in a manufacturing plant, laboratory, or production facility.
  • May require working with hazardous materials or in environments with loud noise or extreme temperatures.
  • Shift work may be required, including evenings and weekends.
