General Ledger Accountant

GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTANT
MONTGOMERY, AL

This growing architecture and engineering firm is seeking a General Ledger Accountant who has the following:
  • 3-10 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in architecture, engineering, or construction industries
  • Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Experience with Sage 50, QuickBooks, or Deltek is highly preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus, but not required. Industry experience is most critical
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, process, and reconcile bi-weekly payroll and associated journal entries.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies.
  • Reconcile and monitor credit card transactions and ensure accurate coding.
  • Process accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and classified.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other internal teams to ensure financial data integrity.
  • Support internal and external audit processes as required.
