General Ledger Accountant

GENERAL LEDGER ACCOUNTANT
MONTGOMERY, AL

This growing architecture and engineering firm is seeking a General Ledger Accountant who has the following:

3-10 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in architecture, engineering, or construction industries
Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Experience with Sage 50, QuickBooks, or Deltek is highly preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus, but not required. Industry experience is most critical

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, process, and reconcile bi-weekly payroll and associated journal entries.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate variances or discrepancies.
Reconcile and monitor credit card transactions and ensure accurate coding.
Process accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments.
Maintain the integrity of the general ledger by ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and classified.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Collaborate with project managers and other internal teams to ensure financial data integrity.
Support internal and external audit processes as required.
