A nationally recognized electrical and technology systems contractor is seeking a BIM Modeler to support virtual design and construction (VDC) initiatives across commercial and industrial building projects. This role is based just outside Houston and supports multi-million dollar projects by translating construction data into actionable 2D and 3D models that guide the build process. Focus:
- Develop and revise detailed 2D and 3D construction drawings that reflect field requirements and project standards.
- Generate accurate fabrication and installation models used by field teams across commercial and mission-critical projects.
- Collaborate with project engineers, field supervisors, and VDC coordinators to ensure modeling reflects real-world constructability.
- Assist with the implementation of best practices for drawing, modeling, and detailing efficiency.
- Monitor task progress and provide timely updates to project leads on deliverable status.
- Identify and communicate potential design or installation conflicts between trades during coordination efforts.
- Read and interpret blueprint documents and manufacturer submittals to inform layout and equipment sizing during modeling.
- Complete redlines and record models to reflect as-built conditions for project closeout.
- Work on a variety of project types, including healthcare facilities, large-scale commercial sites, industrial campuses, and data centers.
Skill Set:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience with building information modeling (BIM) software or relevant field exposure in commercial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents and architectural drawings.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Detail-oriented with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and suggest improvements for field constructability and modular opportunities.
