Compensation: Around $100K (negotiable for the right person)
Family-owned domestic dealership south of Atlanta is looking for a Parts Manager to join their team. Right now, the Service Manager is over both parts and service but the store needs a dedicated Parts Manager who can give the parts department the attention and focus it deserves.
The inventory has gotten a bit top-heavy, and the dealer is looking for someone who can step in, evaluate what’s on hand, and get things balanced and moving efficiently again. This is a solid, well-run store with a good reputation and a supportive Dealer Principal. Great long-term opportunity for an experienced Parts Manager who knows how to manage inventory, improve processes, and run a clean operation.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management: Oversee the procurement and stocking of parts and accessories required for vehicle maintenance and repair. Maintain accurate inventory records, track stock levels, and order parts as needed to meet demand while avoiding overstock.
- Supplier Relations: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate pricing, discounts, and terms. Evaluate the quality and reliability of parts suppliers to ensure the dealership receives high-quality products.
- Parts Sales: Manage the sale of parts to both internal (mechanics and service technicians) and external customers. Provide pricing and availability information to customers, and assist with part selection and recommendations.
- Customer Service: Ensure a high level of customer service, addressing inquiries, concerns, and issues related to parts and accessories. Handle customer complaints and returns in a professional and efficient manner.
- Staff Supervision: Oversee the parts department staff, including parts counter people and parts drivers. Assign tasks, provide training, and evaluate employee performance.
- Pricing and Profitability: Monitor pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the market. Analyze sales data and trends to adjust pricing and product offerings as needed.
- Inventory Control: Implement inventory control procedures, such as cycle counting and regular audits, to prevent theft and minimize shrinkage. Ensure that the parts department complies with manufacturer and dealership policies.
- Parts Sourcing: Research and source hard-to-find or specialty parts that may not be readily available through regular suppliers.
- Reporting: Generate reports on parts department performance, including sales, inventory turnover, and other relevant metrics.
- Provide reports to dealership management as required.
- Technology and Systems: Utilize dealership management software and tools to streamline inventory control and parts ordering processes.
- Work closely with other department managers to achieve store goals
