Experienced Automotive Controller needed in the Norwood / Dedham, MA area. Extremely stable opportunity as the current Controller is retiring after 25+ years with the company!
The successful candidate will have a proven track record as an Automotive Controller at a new car dealership and be able to close out the month end financials in a timely fashion. This is a great long-term opportunity and the Controller will report directly to the Dealer Principal. It is important that this person is well-versed in all areas of automotive accounting as to properly lead, train, and manage the accounting team. Must be honest, trustworthy, and have a proven track record as a Controller in automotive.
Responsibilities:
- Help to oversee, maintain, and improve the financial well-being of the dealerships
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements; monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations and reporting including, but not limited to, intercompany transactions and balances and reporting to manufacturers.
- Maintain positive relationships and communication with the Dealer Principal and executive leadership team
- Understand and maximize benefits from manufacturer incentive programs and payment structures, work with management to achieve results, and ensure the team is current on program rules.
- Analyze and interpret financial data and recommend changes to improve systems/processes for financial controls and performance.
- Monitor and analyze monthly operating expenditures against budget to identify expense and gross profit opportunities.
- Ensure all store transactions are processed timely, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Complete monthly commission workbooks, have a strong understanding of individual pay plans and commissions.
- Review and analyze parts monthly/annual reconciliation.
- Maintain accounting schedules.
- Expense Analysis
- Assist in the annual budgeting process.
- Assist in audits (floor plan, sales tax, manufacturer) and year-end review.
- Internal controls – implement and ensure the store follows the internal control process.
- Work closely with other department managers to achieve store goals
Compensation:
- Compensation package will be in $125,000-$150,000 range depending on experience level and track record.
